For those patients who are unable to access our mobile unit, we are happy to provide a home visit. In most cases, we aim to provide a similar level of examination at home to that which is offered in the mobile practice through use of the latest portable and computerised equipment. For the great majority of patients, there is no additional charge for a home visit – if you are eligible for a NHS eye test, the visit is free. Click here to check NHS eligibility. We offer home visits over an area extending from West Hull to the Eastern side of York, and from Driffield to Goole. Contact us for further information To make an appointment for a home visit, call us FREE on 0800 977 5994 or click here for the e-mail appointment request. To carry out a sight test at home, all we need is a room that can be made reasonably dark, preferably about 3 metres or 10 feet in length, with enough space to move around furniture. Even a power outlet is not essential since our equipment can all run from battery power. We aim to offer a prompt response to a request for a visit – Wednesdays are reserved for home visits – but please note that NHS regulations require us to give at least two working days notice to the local PCT of any scheduled visit and so immediate appointments can no longer be offered. We will usually confirm a time for your appointment by telephoning the day before we come. We aim to be with you at the time stated although this may be affected by such factors as traffic conditions. Please ensure that you are ready for us to arrive at the time stated and have any glasses that you are currently using readily to hand, along with your prescription from your previous eye test if you have it. |
